ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith is not one to hold back his opinions, especially when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys. When asked about their chances of winning the Super Bowl, he laughed and expressed his doubts, citing the team’s reliance on quarterback Dak Prescott and his underwhelming performances in past playoff games. Although the Cowboys have made improvements on the defensive side of the ball, Smith’s skepticism suggests that their path to a Super Bowl victory may not be as easy as some fans hope.

Important Details about Stephen A Smith Comments On Cowboys’ Super Bowl Chances –

    – Stephen A. Smith, an ESPN personality and known Dallas Cowboys hater, laughed when asked if this could be the year they win another Super Bowl.
    – Smith praised the Cowboys for improving on the defensive side of the football, but says it all falls on quarterback Dak Prescott.
    – Smith doesn’t believe in the Cowboys’ chances and their fans shouldn’t expect a Super Bowl parade soon.
    – Dallas added cornerback Stephon Gilmore to help Trevon Diggs contain opposing wide receivers, but an NFL team’s ceiling tends to rise and fall on the play of its quarterback.
    – Dak Prescott is a good quarterback, but not elite. He threw for 2,860 yards and 23 touchdowns, led the NFL with 15 interceptions despite playing in just 12 games due to injury.
    – In the divisional playoff round against the San Francisco 49ers, Prescott had two interceptions and only one touchdown pass.
    – With the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles losing star players, the window could be open for the Cowboys to finish first in the NFC East.

Is This the Year for the Dallas Cowboys?

Stephen A. Smith, one of the most popular and polarizing personalities in sports media, is not sold on the Dallas Cowboys’ chances of winning the Super Bowl this year. Despite the team’s offseason moves to improve its defense, Smith believes that the team’s success will ultimately depend on the play of quarterback Dak Prescott.

Smith’s skepticism is not unfounded. While Prescott is undoubtedly a talented player, especially during the regular season, he has faltered in the playoffs. In last year’s divisional round against the San Francisco 49ers, Prescott threw two interceptions and only one touchdown pass, and the Cowboys lost 19-12. It was their second straight playoff loss to the 49ers, following a wild-card round defeat in 2021.

To be fair to Prescott, he wasn’t entirely healthy in last year’s game. He played in just 12 games during the regular season due to a thumb injury and threw a league-high 15 interceptions. Nonetheless, his postseason struggles have sparked doubts among fans and analysts alike about his ability to lead the Cowboys to a championship.

Of course, the quarterback is just one part of a football team, and the Cowboys have made other moves to strengthen their roster. They added Stephon Gilmore, a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, to their secondary, which should help them defend against opposing wide receivers. They have a talented offensive line and a top-tier running back in Ezekiel Elliott. And they play in a relatively weak division, with the defending NFC East champion Philadelphia Eagles losing key players in the offseason.

But there are other factors working against the Cowboys besides Prescott’s playoff struggles. They have a new head coach in Dan Quinn, who is taking over for Mike McCarthy after a disappointing debut season. They have some question marks on defense, especially at linebacker and safety. And they will have to navigate a tough schedule that includes games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints, and Green Bay Packers.

All of these challenges make it difficult to predict how the Cowboys will fare this season. Their ultimate success or failure will depend on a variety of factors, from Prescott’s play to the health and performance of their other key players. But one thing is certain: if the Cowboys do make a deep playoff run this year and win a Super Bowl, they will have silenced the skeptics and cemented their place as one of the NFL’s premier teams.
